Following up on his successful and inspirational book,"Tuesdays With Morrie", Mitch Albom wrote another inspirational book,"The Five People You Meet In Heaven". Just like in "Tuesdays With Morrie", there are lessons that can be learned and practiced in this book. More important than reading this book, how can you apply it to your own life and how you view your life. The main character, Eddie, may relate to a lot of people. He was an elderly maintenance worker who did not feel his life had any significance or impact. On his 83rd birthday, he saved a little girl at the expense of his own life. Then, his life lessons are fully realized. Mitch Albom tells the story as a fable that is meant primarily to help us, the readers, learn about the five people we will meet in heaven. When most people look at life, they look at vast significant events such as winning a Super Bowl, hitting a lottery, making a million dollars, or other single events. Life is more than just those vast significa
nt events. It is a series of smaller but equally important moments of time. When we appreciate those (and every) moment of time, we will recognize that our life has meaning and significance. People want to believe that they left an impression while they were in Earth. These same people will overlook any impression they left on Earth. Regardless on whether we recognize it or not, we all will leave a series of impressions. It is important that we leave as much positive impressions as possible. When we realize this, we are likely to be conscious about being positive to everyone. When you read classic books such as "The Christmas Carol", "Great Expectations", "The Count of Monte Cristo", "To Kill a Mockingbird", and many others, you will feel fulfilled and appreciative. What you read tells a lot of who you are or who you will become. It is imperative to read books that uplift and inspire your spirit. It is said that who you become is a result of: the books you read and the people
you associate with."The Five People You Meet In Heaven" have characters who are just like the ghosts in the "The Christmas Carol". They transform you into a much better person. You can be that person who people will run into as a positive and inspiring person. That is a person who is significant and has left a positive impression.
