Whatever god we are talking about, Simon Lee has put together an essay where he extensively discusses how this existence can be proved scientifically. Amazingly, at the end of the book, it is difficult to find any fault, the reader being forced to consider that Lee has achieved his aim. This is a different reading from many other similar books, and what makes it so is the author's mind and its approach to the topic: a very rational point of view and a schematic reasoning to lead the reader where the author himself wants, in a calm and authoritative style. That's why this is not a book one can get tired about: it is challenging and inspirational. At the same time, to be used as a guide either for who believes or who doesn't, since the basic concepts that bring Lee to his conclusions seem to be holistic, mainly drawn by the observation and subsequent reasoning about nature and humankind.Lee began thinking about how to consolidate together all the information to prove the scienti
fic existence of God when he was studying in Cambridge. He clearly has a very sensitive and, yet, mathematical mind which makes him a person able to develop an original, innovative - revolutionary, at times - thinking. Over the years, he has developed several microprocessor systems other than several scientific computing. In 1992 he started this huge and challenging project of compiling a logical account of the reasons why God exists. This book, therefore, doesn't come from a man of faith, but from a highly technical and scientific mind. Nevertheless, this rigorous analysis is just one part of this very deep book. Going back to basics, Lee offers his own very special translation of some chapters of the Holy Books, commenting on them in a stimulating and personal way. His main point is how human history and society can be traced in the words of the holy literature. From wars to capitalism, from terrorism to the computer age, anything can be read about in the holy literature. Th
at easily leads us to recognize who are (or have been) the enemies of the Spirit: some of them are not just "fictional characters", but a real presence in our lives.
