Finding the Right Books for Kids

With so many choices for kids books out there, being a parent and knowing which ones are the best can be a little tricky. If you are a parent, you probably don't have time to read all the books your kids want to read before they do. Thats very time consuming, and not exactly the most practical of all options.Book covers, and descriptions can be incredibly vague and not give you the whole "story". And parents are all different, and whats ok for one child, may not be for the next. Some parents don't like books that have things that go against their religion, some parents don't like scary or mild gore in their books, a lot of violence is also often unacceptable too.Take the twilight series as an example. The main focus of these vampire books are, of course, vampires. Well if you know your kid doesn't do well at night after listening to these type of stories, then you know not to recommend them. The reviews can give you a little inside information and reveal the real story behind the words on the back of the cover. There are also sites like Amazon and Borders that all have a book review section, usually at the bottom of each book. Reading these can greatly help you get to the soul of the book.In addition, these reviews can also help you talk about the book with your child. You will already have some inside knowledge of the book and can more easily understand how your child is describing the books he or she reads.
