Some say that the art of letter writing is dead. And far too many businesses both large and small send out mass e-mails to all their customers or future customers which look so generic, people consider them spam. After the advent of computers far too many people were sending out word processed form letters. However, there are ways to make form letters look friendly, and customize them to really get the message across. If you'd like to learn more about how to write a decent business letter, then I sure have a great book that I believe you should read. It's a book in my personal business library. The name of the book is;"Customer Relations and Goodwill Letters," by Mary H. Moroney, 1985The author starts out with the first chapter explaining how to write a thank you letter. And there are several excellent examples of how to write a thank you letter to your customers thanking them for their orders. It's amazing more companies don't do this, because it is one of the easiest ways to
ensure customer loyalty without giving extreme discounts to keep your customers. There is also another chapter on how to write suggested letters, and I found this most appropriate, and very fascinating. There is also a chapter on accepting a public speaking engagement, or even declining one, and doing so in such a way as to elevate your expert status, without offending the other party. Anyone who is a public speaker should probably read these letters, and incorporate them into their business policies and practices. There is also a chapter on how to write a letter advising your customers that you are forced to raise their prices. I actually used this letter when I was 21 years old to raise the prices I charged for my aircraft washing service. And I only lost one customer but I was able to double my prices. The letter worked, I even considered using the same letter with a different spin the following year, but I never did. I highly recommend this book to you, and even though we
are in the computer age you should never forget that writing business letters can increase goodwill and customer relations. Please consider all this.
