Book Review - Secrets of Six Figure Women by Barbara Stanny

"We women have got to stop devaluing ourselves and demand what we're worth." Barbara StannyI always enjoy a great book about successful women. But what drew me to Secrets of Six-Figure Women is that the author shares how her own issues with money and underearning inspired her to seek out high earners and write this book. The interviews she conducted with these women, dubbed "successful high earners," forever changed her outlook and ultimately propelled her to six figures and beyond.Stanny identifies four "must-have" traits that every successful high-earner has (or develops) that many under-earning women lack:

A profit motive. Profit sometimes has a negative connotation because it can imply surface-level motives. Most of the women interviewed aren't solely driven by money - they have a passion for what they do - but they are very clear that being well compensated is non-negotiable.

Audacity. These women are willing to step outside of their comfort zones, even if they aren't always sure of a successful outcome.

Resilience. Despite any setbacks, the women Stanny interviews always get back up to try again.

Encouragement. Many women try to go it alone. To be a successful high-earner, it's an imperative to have a support system of people who believe in us, want us to succeed, and help us to get there.
Stanny describes three other "big helper" traits. These traits aren't mandatory, but when combined with the "must haves," take everything to a higher level:

Self-awareness. Always strive for personal development and get clear about your life's values, goals, and desires.

Non attachment. Learn to let go of what doesn't work in your life and business.

Financial know-how. Understanding your finances - or access to those who are financially savvy- will help you make the most of your earnings.
The message is that all women have six-figure potential within them. Stanny believes we have access to all of these traits and the women she interviewed shows the reader how to develop these traits and put them into daily practice.
