The Winter Rose takes the reader directly into the life of early 1900's England, you can smell the air, feel the cold seep through your bones, and hear the vendors calling out their wares. From women suffragettes, to protesting Labour party members, from the inadequate medical conditions for the poor, to the comforts enjoyed by the rich, from life on the dirty streets of London, to the sumptuous drawing rooms of Mayfair mansions. You will be swept away as you read the triumphs, the heartaches and the adventures of India and Sid.There is nothing typical about this book and Ms. Donnelly will keep you guessing until the very end. In fact, at one point, I literally cried out, "Oh No!", not believing the turn the book had taken. I'll say no more, expect I absolutely recommend this book. The
Winter Rose is actually a sequel to The Tea Rose. But you do not have to have read The Tea Rose to understand and thoroughly enjoy The Winter Rose. I repeat, this book can and does stand alone. If you love Historicals, if you love a great epic love story, if you love the Thorn Birds, this is the book for you.
