lease help me in solving this issue. I have a HP dv9500t laptop which had Windows XP installed on it. I upgraded the operating system on the laptop to Windows 7 and after upgrading the operating system, the screen is having a horizontal split with identical images above and below. The graphic card on the laptop is NVIDIA 8600M GS. Is this because of the graphic card? Is my graphics card faulty? If anybody knows how to solve the Inexplicable Split Screen Problem in HPDV9500t then please share some information. Thanks in advance. Re: Inexplicable Split Screen Problem in HPDV9500tMost of the laptops face the problem with the residual charge storage near the motherboard of the laptop. Residual charge gets stored near the motherboard of the laptop. If the residual charges reaches a threshold level then the system will not be able to access some components of the motherboard. To restore the functionality of the laptop, you will have to clear the residual charge from the laptop. To clear the residual charge, shut down the laptop and remove the battery of the laptop. Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. Replace the battery and see if the problem is solved or not. Re: Inexplicable Split Screen Problem in HPDV9500tOpen the laptop and remove the RAM of the laptop. If the RAM chips are dislocated from their respective slots then the system will not detect the RAM and may cause problems similar to the one which you are facing. Hence open the laptop and remove the RAM chips from its respective slots. Clean the connecting terminals of the RAM and replace them back in their respective slots. Boot the computer and see if laptop is still facing the split screen problem. Re: Inexplicable Split Screen Problem in HPDV9500tAll the functions which are carried out by the laptop are controlled by the motherboard of the system. If the motherboard itself is faulty then the user is bound to face such problem. Therefore I would suggest that you take the laptop to the nearest HP service center and get it checked. If the motherboard is found to be faulty, replace it. There will be no charge levied for the motherboard if the laptop is under warranty, otherwise the cost of the replaced hardware will be charged. Re: Inexplicable Split Screen Problem in HP DV9500tI having the same problem with a geforce 8600m gs graphic card of the laptop. Sometimes the laptop works fine but some times the screen splits into two or starts flickering. Also sometimes BSOD's are encountered. According to me the GPU of the system has gone bad due to such problems are faced. Replacing the GPU is only solution which I can see. Re: Inexplicable Split Screen Problem in HP DV9500tI think you will have to update the BIOS on the motherboard of the laptop. The BIOS installed on the motherboard saves all the information needed for the system to boot. If the BIOS is having some problems then the system will not boot. Therefore I would suggest that you update the BIOS on the motherboard. You can download the updated BIOS file from the official website of themanufacturer of the motherboard. Re: Inexplicable Split Screen Problem in HP DV9500tThe windows installation on the computer must be corrupt due to which the system is not working properly. Operating system of the computer has many files associated to it. The operating system will fail frequently if any of the file is not working properly. Therefore install the operating system again on the laptop and see if it helps.
