My daughter-in-law has a HP laptop computer. The AC power adapter plug where it plugs into the computer (the little round male plug) has come loose from the wires. I took it to MicroCenter and asked if they could put a new plug on it for me. They told me no and said I would need to buy a whole new AC adapter which is $79.99. so expensive. Seems to me like the little plug could be replaced without having to spend that much money for a new AC adapter for laptop (Dell Inspiron 4150 ac adapter). Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions as to whether the plug could be replaced and wherei might have it done ?? Let’s say you find anyoune to cut the wires and splice that from some donor power supply. Let’s say they get it wrong or you are unlucky and the laptop fries. Given the litigatious nature of many consumers they have to give you this advice. And reading your post I can’t check for my usual sources for cheaper units.I bought  ac adapter at udtek.com a few months ago, less than $20!High quality! Try udtek.com, Udtek delivers high quality laptop batteries, laptop AC adapters, Laptop keyboards, Lcd chargers, DVD drivers, Scooter chargers and more. Our unique product lines of over 1000 diverse accessory power products and replacement batteries and adapters provide our customers with an extensive selection of the best quality products available. If it’s just loose wires, perhaps it would be an easy fix. The repair could be costly though, depending on if a new plug needs to be ordered. It might be just as easy to go with a new adapter. Try look for the same connector at the local electric component store or found similar adapter(Dell Inspiron 3800 ac adapter) and cut a part of the power cord with the adapter and connect the power cord together on your adapter. But for some laptop, making sure the polarity is very important, otherwise the laptop may behave strangely or got the power card onboard shorted.
