Brad Thor's newest thriller "Foreign Influence" is fast paced action yarn that brings back some of the familiar characters in Scot Harvath's world as well as some new characters that added to the story line extremely well. I've been a fan of Thor's and have enjoyed all of his books, but this one I especially enjoyed. Harvath seemed a bit more brutal in his expunging of terrorists than in previous books, but it fit for the story here and I'm looking forward to where Harvath goes next.Regarding the brutality, that's the world Harvath lives in, and when dealing with terrorists that have no regard for human life, one must sometimes use similar means to accomplish good and to prevent evil from spreading. While some may abhor all violence and not understand that it is essential at times, those people are probably not reading thrillers like this. I like that Harvath doesn't shy away from telling it like it is, and showing that sometimes heroes must go to darker places for the greate
r good, and sometimes going to those places takes its toll on a person.I'm also guessing that Muslims won't be in line to read this book. Thor's characters are pretty harsh in the categorizing of Muslims and it might upset some. So be it, the book is about terrorists, and if some hits to close to home, well, look at who are committing the majority of terrorist acts.On to more good things about this book. I mentioned that Thor introduced some new characters in this book, and a few of those characters are a preview of a new series which will debut later this year in November The new book is titled "The Athena Project" and is about a group of female Delta Force members. A team appear and assist Scot Harvath in this book, and I enjoyed their appearance and look forward to reading more.Overall, this was a fast paced book that I really enjoyed. Thor weaves a good story filled with top notch military and special ops insights along with real world situations that if they don't scare
you a little, you aren't paying attention. I didn't want to put the book down, and devoured the action quickly. Reading the last page made me think, "Dang, now I have to wait for the next one..."If you are a fan of Brad Thor, this book definitely won't disappoint. While I've enjoyed all of his books, I found this to be one of his best.
