Twilight - An All Consuming Love

There are very few romantic movies that cascade within my soul, but Twilight was one of the them. The actors were so compelling that I found myself transfixed, which was kind of remarkable considering the fact that their roles required very little dialogue. They spoke volumes through their facial expressions! In watching this I actually purposed that I was going to buy the book, and I haven't read a work of fiction for a long time. The thing that really captivated me was the way these two people bridled the expression of their love for each other. Edward hungered (literally and physically) for Bella in a way that he'd never experienced before, yet he maintained control. He "knew" that she was his eternal mate, but he was determined to bide his time in order for patience to have a perfect work. And she too was aware that she'd found her other half, though she admittedly had more difficulty "waiting."There was an essence to their ethereal communication that made me think back t
o a scene in The Village. The scene is when Lucius silences his "do all the talking" blind sweetheart as he affirms his manly leadership while simultaneously declaring his love. It's an incredibly powerful scene that awakens those often unspoken male and female desires. In Twilight, Edward's need to protect Bella knows no bounds, and I believe that's a quality many women want in a man. We want to feel protected and wanted. We want our lover to cover us protectively, surround us physically, and invade us spiritually! We want to be wanted body, soul and spirit; and to feel the same in return. Are these longings still present in people today? I think they are--we're just a little out of touch with them.I believe that when we permit ourselves to "envision" our ideal, we open ourselves up to the possibility of finding that special one that completes us. Movies like Twilight help us to remember that that desire still lives within us, and I believe that both men and women possess t
hat wanting. It's a yearning that surpasses words...it's a hunger beyond our comprehension, and perhaps the only reason many don't find it is because they're afraid to bravely go to those places within ourselves or someone else.
