Is Obama an Outlier? Malcolm Gladwell thinks so, and claims our President is. In fact, he says he is an extraordinary example of this actually, think of the family dynamics behind this man? Much of his argument is based on the concept of nurture over nature, still one cannot deny nature or its value, but this book appears to show that although it exists, it is not the main component. I agree.Of course, it is my contention that you ought to be reading this book yourself, the one Mr. Gladwell wrote, and I recommend that you do, the book is:"Outliers - The Story of Success" by Malcolm Gladwell; (2008)Where are you from, and who is around you as you progress, has more to do with success than anything else. Self-made man; is there such a thing - perhaps, says Malcolm but it is very much over used and we ought to get away from that.Is Obama an Outlier? I agree. What is an Outlier? Well, it is a phenomena that is outside the normal, the expected, or beyond average predictable experience. How does one get to be such an anomaly or phenomena? Well, you have to spend 10,000 hours or 10-years at something or practice, apprentice at something that is complex before they get great or become an expert. We are too impatient with folks when we access them within 6 months or 1-year, but that's crazy because it takes longer to master something. Hopefully, you will buy this book, read it and think on it.
