I just finished reading the "Huffington Post Complete Guide to Blogging" written by Arianna Huffington and her editors. As an owner of a popular blog directory and avid blogger, I attempt to read of very book on the subject of blogging. I was excited to read this one in particular because of how successful the Huffington Post is. I must admit that I was a little disappointed, the book is average at best and at times less than stellar. The book is pretty complete, I will give it that. The book dives into topics like, the history of blogging, how to start a blog and how to make money from your blog. The best part of the book is that much of this advice is very practical and useful and you can apply it today and see results tomorrow. I also enjoyed the chapter that discusses how to find your unique voice and discover what you are passionate about and then blog about it.The major drawback for me was at times I felt that the book was just a big ad campaign for the Huffington Post.
I felt that they were more concerned with promoting their blog than showing the reader how to promote their blog. There were several long chapters devoted to the history of the Huffington Post and the best blog posts from the past years. I definitely could have done without those 40 pages. In closing, I felt the book was average, there was some decent advice but also a lot of filler and non relevant chapters. I would only recommend this book if you were a huge fan of the Huffington Post.
