While business level color laser print technology can be considered nowhere near cheap, it is possible to find existing models, such as those found in the HP LaserJet 4650 series, for around a thousand dollars or less. If your business would benefit from the additional appeal and presentation factor of full color imagery on a large scale, then a device such as these may be worth the overall cost.
The HP LaserJet 4650 series is broken up into four powerful hardware sets that all include networking. Due to the incredible cost of color toner, having a color laser printer on a network can be dangerous concerning overhead, but each device is capable of a single computer setup as well. HP monitoring software is also included to help manage the device's toner usage.
Additionally, the HP LaserJet 4650d models include a built in automatic duplexor for double sided printing. Double sided printing can add a professional, attractive feel even to black and white documents and, when you consider the possibilities when you add color, the duplexor option becomes even more valuable.
The HP LaserJet 4650dtn version of the device also includes an additional paper tray for extra storage, and easier switching between paper types. All versions leave the option open of adding additional trays separately, as well as adding a variety of helpful and efficient hardware accessories such as a 20GB hard disk.
While the HP LaserJet 4650hdn comes complete with the 20 GB HP high performing hard drive previously installed internally, upgrading the others' memory storage capacity is an option as well. Random access memory comes at 160 MBs in the base model, and an additional memory chip included brings the other models to a stock memory total of 288 MBs. Should buyers find that these numbers prove insufficient, additional RAM can be added via two industry standard 200 pin dual data rate DDR SDRAM small outline DIMM slots, but the device cannot exceed a total of 544 MBs. Three flash memory card slots are left open as well.
Each model varies in terms of out of box paper storage capacity. The base model HP LaserJet 4650n comes with a standard 500 sheet paper tray and a 100 sheet fold out priority feed slot for paper types that require a straight through paper path, bringing the base paper storage total to 600 sheets. The HP LaserJet 4650dtn comes complete with one additional 500 sheet tray, and the HP LaserJet 4650hdn comes with two which brings the unit's total potential paper storage capacity to 1,600 sheets.
Unfortunately, the HP LaserJet 4650 series offers a maximum of only 600 x 600 dots per inch resolution for standard printing, but HP has included a resolution enhancement mode, HP ImageREt 3600, that can produce 3600 dot per inch quality for high resolution color imagery, unfortunately print speed will suffer drastically when in use. With four models to choose from, the HP LaserJet 4650 series could potentially meet a variety of possible demands concerning high quality, laser color printing.
