How many pages does it take to explain the history of the World? Human history is so vast and has been lived from so many different perspectives that it is often hard to get any sort of accurate view. Even once the scholars put it all into words by condensing it to the most prevalent or accepted events, people and periods, is it truly accurate or a mere interpretation on limited data based on the thoughts and society of the time. For instance, currently we are revising our history books ever 10-20 years to fit the new social norms. We take great warriors, conquerors and military generals and demonize them, and yet 20-years ago they were our heroes. This is merely a factor of the changing society and that also plays out in our educational system.Still, as wonderful and sweet as that might be, it's not really accurate at all, but it makes us feel good and supposedly produces a generation of wiser, less aggressive and more peacefully productive people. Or does it doom us to reliv
e the past, as those who feel differently attack us? Hard to say, which way is best to play it, but it does show that the history we learn is very inaccurate. Many say, and it is hard to deny that the history is indeed written by the victors, and they put their spin on it and make themselves into heroes of the day. Does that make the history of those slaughtered any lesser? Apparently, it seems to have, question is what knowledge of history have we lost forever? Would you like a good recommendation for an excellent history text book? No, it's not new, in fact it's a few years old now, but it is very good and the age of the text book will also prove my point in this matter:"The History of the Modern World" by R.R. Palmer and Joel Colton; (fourth edition) Alfred A. Knoph Publishing Inc, New York, NY; 1971If you truly care about history, I suggest you go and buy several editions of various older historical text books spanning some 60-years and read through them and look at the d
ifferences. The more you read the more you will have to admit; that you do not know very much. Think on this.
