This book is an interesting blend of an autobiography, an inspirational book and a business entrepreneurial "how-to". Brian outlines his business successes and failures and gives practical advice to help other entrepreneurs avoid the pitfalls and hopefully attain success quicker and more frequently. He tells the story of his life and relates how his life's events shaped his business decisions beginning with his inspiration to achieve more financial success than he could hope for as a physicist for NASA after the birth of his fourth child and the sudden realization of how much it would cost to send four children to college. As the title suggests, Brian attributes much of his success to perseverance. They say that as many as 90% of new businesses fail within the first few years, but that is likely because it takes longer than that to begin to be successful and most people just give up too quickly. Brian recounts his company's (CES) first failing four years and subsequent sixteen
years of success. His company, almost a small business in the beginning, competed with names like IBM and NCR and won many times over. Eventually Brian sold CES for over 20 million dollars. That's a pretty good outcome for someone who admits to stumbling his way through. No matter what skills Brian claims to have lacked in his early business endeavors, his writing style is fluent, honest and real. His passion for life, love and giving back to others by sharing his experience shines through and gives real inspiration. I came away from reading it wanting to improve not only my business endeavors, but my family life as well. It is obvious and Brian makes no qualms about admitting that a strong family support system made his success possible. Even after suffering the devastating loss of his first wife, Brian believed in the positive and found love and continued success again.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to start their own business or is just looking for
an inspiring true story to read. In either event, you won't be disappointed!
