Apple Software Update Does Not Working

have Hp laptop which has Windows xp installed. I have iTunes installed in my computer. When I start iTunes application, I get message stating that new software update available. I select yes to get it, but nothing happened. I tried to do it manually, but nothing happened. I don't know why apple software update does not working. Anyone else having the same problem.
