Blogging to Drive Business - Create and Maintain Valuable Customer Connections

If you want to blog for your business, but you don't know where to start, "Blogging To Drive Business: Create and Maintain Valuable Customer Connections" by Eric Butow and Rebecca Bollwitt is a great place to start. This is an excellent guide for the beginning blogger. Experienced bloggers might find a gem or two, but the book really is aimed at the novice. And for the novice, it is a very good place to start and will get you off running in the right direction for sure. The book is easy to read and has ample illustrations and case studies to assist with learning. I'd recommend reading it through quickly, and then go back to the chapters that focus on you particular situation and circumstances. Even if all you know are blogs and blogging are things you should know about and want to try out to assist your business, this book is for you. It starts out explaining why blogs are important. Next, the authors focus on leveraging your blog with marketing tools. This book is aimed at bu
sinesses, not the recreational diary type of blog. Chapter three is all about creating a blogging strategy. What is your purpose? What software or platform? A little on photos and audio. Good information when you are starting out and are not sure where to begin. Sites such as Facebook, Myspace, Linkedin, and Twitter are also looked at. This way you can coordinate all your efforts.Once you have a blog set up, chapters four and five provide advice on what to write. The authors discuss blogging responsibly and how to deal with negative feedback. The also provide advice on finding topics to write about. Next, they focus on who will write the blog. You, team of workers, outsource it?So you have it set up, and you have made some posts. How do you get readers? Chapter seven addresses this topic and provides some tips on writing so people will find you and want to keep reading. Chapter eight gets into multimedia blogging with images, video and audio. The final chapter discusses Web
3.0 Blogs to help you stay on top of what's new. Additionally, there is an appendix with some important blogging sites. The book is a quick read, but it provides some very good advice for novices in this field. If you are just starting out, I'd highly recommend this book to assist you with getting started. If you already have a blog, and have been blogging for a while, you may not find much in this book to help. Probably a few tips here and there, but most of it is pretty basic and aimed at the complete beginner. For the complete beginner and novice, this book is 5 stars. For an experienced blogger, maybe only 3. So I'm giving it a 4 star review and recommending it highly to those who know nothing about blogging but want to get started.
