Connelly was so honored that he had the President as a fan, and a meeting between the two was set up later at the Los Angeles Airport.Jack McEvor and Rachell Walling, the protagonists in The Scarecrow, are two recurring characters of Michael Connelly from his previous novels. Jack McEvoy is a crime reporter, and a twin brother of another of Connelly's recurring characters. Rachel Walling is an FBI agent, and somewhat of a girlfriend of Harry Bosch, an LAPD detective and the protagonist of the fifteen Harry Bosch novels.
