Brother Mfc-8220 – Larger Fax Machine For More Paper Storage

The Brother MFC-8220 is similar in specifications to other Multifunction Centers offered by Brother, but comes in a slightly heftier package, which allows for a couple features you won't find on the models designed with a smaller footprint. At 17.0″ x 17.8″ x 13.2″ in dimension, the unit takes up a little more space in the world, and has a unit weight of 25.6 lbs. The extra size is due in part to the additional paper tray slot that opens up to upgrade the units capacity to 500 total sheets over the stock 250 sheets. The trays don't come cheap, but if your small business is moving a high volume, being bogged down with constantly refilling a low capacity tray can prove to be a pain in the neck.
Also, a feature that's included thanks to the freedom of size is a big old obnoxious looking corded telephone sticking straight off the side of the unit. The corded headset is a feature that seems to be getting edged out lately as sleek, small units that squeeze everything into one become more and more popular. But, if hot rod looks and a small footprint come second to maximum functionality, then why not throw in a huge grey phone that makes no apologies about how it looks like somebody glued it onto the side of the unit? Another open phone line in the office never hurts and, with the help of the MFC-8220's32 MBs of standard memory, others can still operate the machine's other features while you're talking away, explaining to your friends how you're still using a phone that has a cord on it.
When you're done playing on the phone, take time to check out the effort Brother has put in to place this unit at the top of its class. It comes with a high speed modem capable of 33.6 K BPS that sends faxes at two seconds a page, whereas slower units run at about six. Another luxury is the PCL6 and BR-Script 3 emulation that let you know the MFC-8220 means business.
Print quality and speeds are high end, with 21 pages per minute maximum print speed, and a pretty sharp 2400 X 600 dot per inch print quality thanks to the model's laser printer technology. And, unlike many smaller units, this big boy has the option of high yield replacement toner cartridges which means you'll have to swap out your ink significantly less; meanwhile you'll be getting a better value which lowers your total cost per page. If high volume is a necessity, knocking pennies off at a time can add up very quickly.
Brother really pulled out the stops this time with the three color LCD display, which helps with visibility but also with delivering print status in a dedicated fashion that's easy to understand and see from a distance, though you won't be travelling far thanks to that cord. Or, you could instead choose to go with the very useful PC Fax mode, which allows you to fax straight from your desktop and, with a NC-9100H Ethernet option, the Brother MFC-8220 will have you doing it in no time.
