Kids' Book Reviews By Kids: How to Write a Children's Book Review You Think Other Kids Will Like

You probably have to write book reviews in school. When I was a kid, I used to hate to write them. But now I use book reviews that other people have written all the time. They help me to decide which books I want to read next. So if you're a kid and you have to write a book review, here is how to write one about a book you think other kids will like.Actually, it doesn't have to be about a book you really like. Negative reviews are helpful too. Sometimes a book you don't like is still a great book, just not for you. Another kid with other interests might find that book perfect for them. So write your book review anyway. Here are some things you must include in your book review:TitleBe sure to get the correct and complete title for the book you are reviewing. Sometimes series of books have parts of the titles that are the same, and parts that are different. If you don't include the whole title, another kid might read your review and get the wrong book to read. For example, you pr
obably know about Diary of a Wimpy Kid, by Jeff Kinney. But if you are reviewing one of the later books in the series, you must be sure to include the whole title, like this: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth (Book 5.)AuthorYou probably hate it when people say or spell your name wrong. I bet the authors of the books you are reading feel exactly the same way!Be sure to spell the author's name correctly. Check and double check it in your report.Recommended ages or gradesYou might read a funny book but know it is too hard for your younger sister to read. So include the ages you think would be able to enjoy the book. You can say something like, "Recommended for 4th and 5th graders." Or something like, "I'm 10, but I usually read books that are much harder than what we are supposed to be reading in school. So I think this would be better for sixth or seventh graders."Summary of the storyGive a brief description of the main things that happen in the beginning of the story, or th
e beginning and middle. But be sure not to give away the ending, especially if there is something really surprising that happens. Here are other things you might want to include in your book review:Something you really enjoyedIf you thought the book was funny, say so. If you thought it was exciting or scary, and you love adventure, mention that.Something you didn't like about the bookMaybe the beginning is really good, but the ending is boring. Perhaps the book seemed too scary for kids, or it gave you nightmares. You can warn others about that.Other similar books Compare the book you are reviewing to other similar books. That way, kids can get a better idea if it might be something they would like to read.Others who might enjoy the bookSay what kind of kids you think might like the book. For example, "If you love to read books about spies or adventure, you will enjoy the Alex Rider book series." Or, "If you like books about witches that are not too scary, you might enjoy "Wh
ich Witch?" by Eva Ibbotson.Recommend other books or authorsIt's a lot of fun to find a whole bunch of books by another author that you didn't even know about. So you can mention other authors with books like the one you are reviewing. Or you can suggest other books that are similar to this one, that other kids might also enjoy reading.Think about the kids who will be reading your book review. Use some of these tips I've given you when you write. If you do, you will be able to write kids' book reviews and help other children by sharing your love of reading and great books.

Review of "The New Job Security" by Pam Lassiter

Pam Lassiter writes an intriguing book about how to search for a job in the 21st Century. Many of the rules have changed. Years ago you could depend on the newspaper want ads and walk up to any large company to fill out an application. Sometimes you would even get an interview on the spot.In the 21st century and especially now during a very difficult recession the rules of looking for work have changed. Many companies are inundated with resumes that they dread having to manage the process. Pam Lassiter emphasizes in The New Job Security that everyone must network as the norm. This should be a long term life long process. She describes in detail the different levels of networking meaning A-People you come in contact with regularly who you can talk freely with, B-People who can directly contact with hiring managers and C-The actual hiring managers or high level people who can make a difference in your career. She explains that once you get to Level C people and if they have a j
ob you could certainly be eliminating or possibly more realistically reducing your competition. Also emphasized is to network for mutual benefit. Just don't blurt out I need a job can you help me. You will put the other person on the defensive. The key is to state your situation and ask the person do you know of any resources/people that can provide assistance. In conclusion, you should always ask, is there anything that I can help you with? Taking such an approach, according to Lassister will create the long term mutually beneficial relationship that you desire. There are other good chapters in the book about you the job seeker taking control of your job search rather than casting fate to the wind. Also, there are the multi-faceted points of view about salary and benefit negotiation. Some of the information is standard which you probably know. But there are a few interesting points on how to communicate such thoughts. The employer actually wants you to negotiate a strong sala
ry for yourself because he wants you to be confident in your abilities. There is still another important section actually stating to stop looking for jobs. This means not to devote too much time to want ads and internet boards which are becoming more and more like an infinite black hole. Your resume goes along with hundreds if not thousands of other applicants. Instead why not combine a want ad with your network especially with the breakthrough of Linked In.The New Job Security really covers many key bases in searching for jobs these days. It's fairly modern in its approach and can be very beneficial to many people who need career guidance and job search strategies.

The Last Justice Is a First-Class Thriller

It's Black Wednesday, and an assassin has just murdered five of the nine Supreme Court justices while they are hearing a case. A sixth, Chief Justice Thomas W. Kincaid, brandishing a pistol, is mistakenly shot by the police, who think he might be the killer, though it's later discovered "he had surprised the assassin by returning fire," and that "The Supreme Court police officers who mistakenly shot Kincaid had killed the only witness to see the shooter's face." The main suspect of the police and FBI? Security cameras identify the initials "C.B." branded onto someone's neck, but don't catch the person's face clearly. The person whom the cops start to believe has the best motive is, you'd initially think, the one who would be the least likely to commit such a heinous crime - the Solicitor General (SG), Jefferson McKenna. The belief is strengthened when McKenna flees, leaving dead bodies in his wake. But, did he murder the Supreme Court justices, or is someone trying to set him
up?This is the scenario that talented author Anthony J. Franze (a successful lawyer himself) presents in his suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat debut thriller, The Last Justice. McKenna has to prove his innocence and uncover who is really behind the murders while on the run from the police, the FBI, and the people who are trying to frame him and possibly kill him. Also, conservative President Winter, wanting to fill the vacancies on the Supreme Court as expediently as possible, tries to cut a deal with the Congress, "the three-three deal." It's meant, supposedly, to be fair to everyone involved, a way around bipartisan bickering. As Judge Ivan Petrov, a potential nominee for one of the openings caused by the murders, puts how the deal would work:"It's pretty simple. The administration and the Democratic leadership each would come up with a list of three nominees, and each side agreed not to challenge the nominees on the other's list: hence, the name, 'the three-three deal.'"The
person to come up with the idea? Jefferson McKenna. McKenna, before he becomes a suspect himself, assists with the investigation, going through the cases that the Supreme Court was scheduled to rule on previous to the shooting deaths of the justices. He comes up with two cases that seem to have the most potential to give someone a motive to want the decisions delayed. What's more, Parker Sinclair, a law clerk that winds up dead with his blood on McKenna's running suit and in his motel room, had accused McKenna of taking a bribe from Nash. When Nash is later stabbed to death, that seems to confirm to the police that McKennna is the one who has the most to gain by it.The Last Justice is an adrenaline-inducing roller coaster ride, full of enough action and chase scenes to please the most discriminating junkies of thrillers and suspense novels. How McKenna manages to evade capture and gather evidence, with the aid of his love interest, Kate, her brother, Aiden, and Aiden's comp
uter-hacking friend makes for a very entertaining read. I hope to read more excellent, action-packed novels of suspense from Anthony J. Franze in the future. If you enjoy page-turning, exciting, pulse-racing mystery thrillers, I recommend checking out The Last Justice today!

Book Review - Advice From The Blender

Entertaining, Humorous, Candid, InspiringIn her new book "Advice from the Blender" Susan J. Hetrick proffers practical advice, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose for blended families. This is a book for and about stepfamilies or blended families. Susan and her new husband David began their marriage with two ready made families. These two families were made up of two boys, two girls, two dogs, one cat, and a hamster. Susan draws insight from their experiences as well as from introducing a compilation of similar accounts from other couples in similar blended family circumstances.A consistent common thread is apparent in all of the stories. Susan has labeled these: eight key ingredients for blending a family. These keys center on expectations and the roles of each family member, the baggage brought into the new relationships, the need to deal with the past, and how to bond together in the new family relationships.Adjustments of the children, the couple themselves, and parenti
ng skills are among top priority considerations. Holiday traditions and celebrations can become calamities. Experiences with extended families can turn into culture shock. In the final chapter Susan incorporates all of the eight ingredients into a recipe unique for your personal blended family. She provides additional tips and pointers for making things fun as you work out your strategy, develop contingency plans, to enjoy the process. The comprehensive resource list and a compilation of Bible verses directed specifically at blended family needs are provided in the appendix. The book is arranged in a user friendly format with short illustrative examples, real life stories, weighty quotes, bulleted points, paragraph summaries, family formulas, summary statements, and questions for reflection and discussion for the whole family. The book is an important resource for pastors, counselors, stepparents and their children. This is a book that will be especially helpful for anyone p
lanning to enter into a blended family relationship."Advice from the Blender" addresses a definite need, in an area where there is an obvious void of helpful information. This unique segment of our society is often overlooked, misunderstood, or shunned by former friends, and family members. Hetrick writing is transparent, humorous, and candid, and provides a positive contribution in effectively addressing this need.xulon press978-1602665699As reviewed for Midwest Book Review

Review - Loose Girl by Kerry Cohen

Desperate for attention from "boys" to give some meaning to her life, Kerry Cohen turned to sex at a young age as a way to feel worthwhile. Loose Girl: A Memoir of Promiscuity is about Cohen's addiction to sex and male attention. She wanted to matter to someone (anyone). Abandoned by a mother who left to follow her own dreams of becoming a doctor, Kerry and her sister (both in their young teens) are left behind to live with their pot-smoking dad. Dad tries to be cool in front of the girls' friends, smoking pot with them and acting inappropriately with his girlfriend. Unsupervised much of the time, and with no parental guidance to speak of, some kids might start drinking, some might turn to drugs. Kerry just wanted boys. The book is filled with sex, sex, sex, but is in no way sexy. It is one empty encounter after another. The girl had no shame; she'd sleep with anyone. She contracted crabs, genital warts, and had countless pregnancy scares. None of that really mattered,
because sex allowed Kerry to feel in control momentarily. Unfortunately the feeling didn't last long. Believing she was unworthy and incapable of any real relationship, she constantly and unsuccessfully tried to fill a bottomless pit of need. Finally, in college, she discovered she cared about writing and enrolled in some workshops and programs that kept her engaged. She was still on the prowl for boys, but at least there was something more to her life. Her journey continued until she ultimately found love, trust and acceptance with a man. Trusting herself was more difficult.Loose Girl will resonate with many readers. Many will feel compassion for Cohen. Many will recognize themselves or someone they are close to in Cohen's story and perhaps learn from her experiences.Loose Girl: A Memoir of Promiscuity comes out June 3, 2008.Cohen is also the author of the YA novel, Easy.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad Book Review

Robert Kiyosaki's best selling book Rich Dad, Poor Dad has been read by millions worldwide. If you haven't read this book then your missing out. Robert Kiyosaki had a rich dad and a poor dad, the poor dad had a stable job but didn't manage money well and therefore was poor, the rich dad built an empire and managed his money like a rich person even though at the start he was poor. He teaches about financial intelligence. What's financial intelligence? Financial intelligence is knowing how to make money, how to money can make money. Here's some of the key points in the book:Acquire assets, reduce liabilitiesOne of the main points in the book that made a lot of sense to me is to acquire assets and reduce liabilities. This seems like a simple idea that a lot of people try to do, but Kiyosaki explains that there are millions of people doing it wrong! Your house and car is not a asset, if you have a mortgage it eats away at your money. Assets are things that make you money such as
stocks, real estate that you acquire to sell on for a profit, or a business that you own.Cash FlowRobert Kiyosaki designed a simple diagram of the cashflow of a poor person, middle class person, and the rich. The poor and middle class's money comes in and out. The rich circulate their money to make more money.WealthSome of the "middle class " consider themselves wealthy due to the fact they they have a nice car, house and are enjoying the luxuries in life. But Robert Kiyosaki thinks differently, he measures true wealth from how long you can survive if you lose your job or retire. Robert Kiyosaki retired in his mid 30's, cause he felt like had enough wealth and could continue his lifestyle with what his assets were giving him, and decided to work only when he needed more money or felt like it, when he said work, that just meant actually doing something to make money, not getting a job and working for someone else. Wealth is measured by the ability to be financially independen
t without doing much work, he explains how this is possible through his asset/liabilities ideas. This book is not a get rich quick scam, this book is just a guidance on the basics of how to think about money.

Saved by the Light by Dannion Brinkley

This is an interesting book by a man who was struck by lightning in 1975 and, according to him, had a long near death experience. Although they tried hard to save him in the hospital emergency room, they eventually gave up. He woke up half an hour just in time to avoid an autopsy. It's hard to evaluate. I have to presume he really did barely survive that lightning strike. That'd be easy enough to check, even though this book was written before the Internet. But it'd probably have been difficult nearly twenty years later (when he wrote this book) to verify the medical facts. And the NDE itself is, of course, totally unverifiable. He says that after he recovered a little bit, he babbled a lot about going to Heaven. His ex-wife and friends could verify this. His "life review" was especially interesting. Brinkley doesn't try to put a good spin on his early life. He spent his entire childhood fighting other boys. He went into the military, was sent to Vietnam and the Special Forces.
According to him, he carried out assassinations, and sometimes killed the innocent. He continued to carry out undercover operations for the government. A few months before the lightning strike, he delivered arms to some group in Central America.During his life review he felt the pain experienced by everybody he had a part in killing, including the grief of survivors. He also experienced the pain of those killed by the guns he'd delivered to Central America.Of course, such details are also unverifiable by their nature. I can well believe that during the Vietnam War Special Forces carried out death strikes on the opposition. And that after the way they did other undercover things. But why guns to Central America in 1975? That makes no sense to me. That was several years before the Sandinistas overthrew Somoza. Every country in Central America was ruled by a pro-American government. No doubt we did ship guns and weapons to them, but it wouldn't have been undercover -- just a nor
mal part of foreign aid.His NDE was much different than others, though, because he was shown many pictures of the future, including the downfall of the Soviet Union (difficult to imagine -- until it happened). However, most of these did not come true in the schedule he gave in the book.He gives the fall of American prestige and influence following the defeat in Indochina as a prediction. But it began with the fall of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in April 1975 -- months before the lightning struck him.One of the "predictions" was the increasing American government debt, but in 1975 that was nothing new.He also claims that he continued to receive instruction in a healing project he was assigned during his NDE in his dreams.I don't recall any other NDE person saying they returned to Heaven in their dreams. Although there's an emotional logic to it, it's not supported by the fact or having NDEs when the physical heart and brain are clinically dead -- which is not the case for drea
ming, which is an entirely natural and normal state.

Why Sean Stephenson, Author of "Get Off Your Buts," is a Mighty Man in a Small Frame?

Sean Stephenson, author of "Get off your buts," is a mighty man in a small frame. Sean does not like to be described as 3 feet tall person confined to a wheelchair. Sean Stephenson has gone through more trials and tribulations that would make the biggest man fall to his knees. I recently watched a live streaming seminar with Sean and it was very enlightening. The main thing that I learned was that we have no excuses for not achieving whatever our heart desires.Sean's philosophy is that they are 3 major buts that we have to overcome. But #1 is fears which normally start with "but what if I fail, but what if I lose.... and continues for as long as you allow it. Our fears are holding us back, you can go to as many self help seminars that you can fit into a single lifetime, but until you do what is necessary to succeed you are wasting your time. The journey of a 1000 miles starts with the first step. The first step may be the most difficult one to take, but once you do it is ver
y difficult to stop moving forward. You will be like an avalanche rolling down hill where you will get stronger the closer you get to your goal.Excuses are But #2, which normally starts with but I don't have to do that; but I don't know how to do that....and continues to infinity. "Excuses are the building blocks of nothingness. They serve as monument to inadequacies and those who excels in them seldom do in anything else" is a poem that I heard many years ago and it still sticks in my mind today.Insecurity is But #3 and what he considers to be the most devastating thing that plagues us. Sean believes that insecurity of not feeling like you don't measured up to standards that you have in your mind or set by society is crippling. These insecurities might be caused by any number of things, but if people felt more secure in their bodies then they is no telling how far this World could evolve. This but normally starts with but I am not....... (Fill in the blank). I don't know wh
at but plagues you but whichever one does get over it and move towards the success that you deserve in your life, business and relationships.Sean Stephenson describes his turning point in his book when he stopped feeling sorry for himself in vivid detail as a 4 years old child. It was at this time that he became a might man in a small frame. The question that his mother asked him changed his life forever. He overcame the force inside of him that kept him living small in his mind. When are you going to overcome this force and get off your "buts"?

Touch of Silver Pairs A Headstrong Farm Gal With An Alpha Werewolf

'Touch of Silver' by Nicole Gestalt (Phaze Books) a classic case of forbidden fruit. When Rob the bartender tells headstrong farm gal Tammy to stay out of town while the bikers are around, Tammy can't resist. She falls in love at first sight with the mysterious silver-haired Kathleen. The attraction is mutual, but Tammy doesn't know the bikers are also a pack of werewolves. Kathleen is the alpha female, mated to the alpha male Jon. When Kathleen in her wolf form comes looking for Tammy, Jon's jealousy threatens to tear Tammy and Kathleen apart... quite literally.Kathleen is a wonderful paranormal erotica heroine: beautiful and mysterious, tough, strong and wild. Tammy is loyal and level-headed--perhaps not the most romantic traits, but certainly the traits needed for the events of this book. I would have liked a little more of a peek into Tammy's personality, but the abbreviation of this tale can be excused given that it's a novella and not a full-length novel.Clearly the rel
ationship between Tammy and Kathleen is the hottest ~ and most important ~ relationship in this book. There is, however, a smoking hot consensual, but rough, sex scene between Jon and Kathleen, told as a flashback. Lovers of lesbian paranormal fiction will enjoy this book, but so will lovers of bisexual women's fiction. The paranormal elements in this book don't break any new mythological ground. It's a pretty standard werewolf tale. If you love werewolves (and I do!), you won't mind. You'll be too swept away by the instantaneous passion between Kathleen and Tammy.

That was the first English sentence I learned when I first came to the United States of America from Honduras, a Five-Star country located in Latin America. I remember very cleared being on the Airplane flight, struggling to learn English by reading my English-learning book entitled "Ingles Sin Barreras." It is learning material for Hispanics to learn English with an appropriate method, a method that was convenient to use at home and easy to comprehend. "Hi, my name is____" and I filled out the blank space with "Jos". I wanted to say this sentence to the person sitting next to me on the plane... But I felt insecure, not sure that I would speak clearly. I was afraid of that person's reaction to my lack of English proficiency.I established a lot of negativity in my mind and mental barriers by saying to myself: What if this person ignores me?
What if this person doesn't understand me? Then, I said to myself: The solution to this is practice. I decided to practice "Hi, my name is Jos" over and over again; it may seem simple to you, but if you've tried learning a foreign language, you may appreciate the difficulty of beginnings. When I saw that the Airplane was about to arrive at the LAX International Airport, knowing that I had been practicing in my mind my first English sentence, I gathered the BOLD COMMITMENT to finally say to the person sitting next to me: Hi, my name is Jos!. He first wanted to serve with honor in the U.S. Army but he was rejected due to his pain in his back. That is the remarkable contribution that _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ has made for my family that were subject to so much discrimination in Honduras that they needed to come to America fulfill on The American Dream to have a better life for their families._ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ inspired me to have a BOLD COMMITMENT to learn English using my library card to go the public library in South Central Los Angeles and study with all my heart the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) to enlist in the U.S. Army and I remember that with such humility my English was getting better and better talking to my beloved neighbors in South Central Los Angeles and making my mother proud while setting a great examples for my two younger brothers. I came to America in August of 2002 with my intent to serve in the U.S. Army as a U.S. Army Ranger to bring to justice those responsible for 9/11. I left everything in my country Honduras just come to protect America The Beautiful. Even though I
passed the ASVAB after being in America for only three months, pass the physical test, medical test, I was not eligible due to my English. I never gave up that I kept learning English at Los Angeles Southwest College and with my love for America I was able to earn a 4.0 GPA in all my classes and my Mathematics that I was invited to Harvard University for a the Harvard Summer School with the intent to visit and see if I could join to the Harvard Men's Soccer Team.I remember that I choose to live in John Winthrop House where _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ used to live as a Harvard undergraduate student and in fact I spent most of my time in remembering him in his honor studying in the building named after him _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ School of Government even though my courses where in Harvard Northwest Science Building taking my Mathematics courses. However, my heart was and always been to come to UCLA because that is my dream school since I was a 10 year-old soccer player. I remember w
riting to Ms. Oprah Winfrey that the influence of The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is so impactful and influential in television that "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" along with "The Bill Cosby Show" was our family's favorite television sitcom show because they were the only ones where black people were not playing stereotypical roles. My two younger brothers, Jesse (named in honor of Reverend Jesse Jackson) and Luther (named in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., used to fight with me for Ashley Banks (character played by Tatyana Ali), and Jesse used to say:"Ashley es mi novia."Luego Luther deca, "No, Ashley es mi novia."Luego yo deca, "No, Ashley es mi novia-punto."Luego Jesse y Luther estaban diciendo al mismo tiempo, "No, Ashley es mi novia, Jose Angel."Bueno entonces ustedes se quedan con Ashley y mi nueva novia es Hilary Banks (Karyn Parsons), porque ella va a UCLA."Translated, we'd debate:"Ashley is my girlfriend."Then Luther responded, "No, Ashley is my girlfriend, Jesse.
"Then I used to say, "No, Jesse and Luther, Ashley is my girlfriend-period."Then Jesse and Luther would tell me at the same time, "No, Ashley is my girlfriend, Jose Angel.""Good, then you, Jesse and Luther, remain with Ashley and my new girlfriend is Hilary Banks (Karyn Parsons), because she goes to UCLA."_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ has left a powerful legacy to America and the world. I am honored to meet his daughter along with Ms. Oprah Winfrey, Ms. Michelle Obama, Stevie Wonder, Maria Shriver, and many civic minded leaders on February 3, 2008 in front of crowd of 9,000 inside UCLA's Pauley Pavilion to shout aloud CHANGE IN AMERICA NOW YES WE CAN! and being inspired by Tatyana Ali and other celebrities being on the Official Campaign Video._ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ inspired me to run the nation's best student government campaign at UCLA with the promise of uniting more than 800 UCLA registered student groups of all backgrounds under the Campaign Slogan "Ask not what your country can do

UCLA is the only university in the world that has so much diversity and many student groups that represent the beauty of America._ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ has inspired me to keep going, regardless of my limited English and health condition, to end the War in Iraq through diplomatic strategies that I can learn in the U.S. Military and Pentagon and for the first time bring peace in the world. Yes it is possible to make peace in the world. As _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ did it when he prevented The Cuban Missile Crisis to become a nuclear war that could kill all the six billion people that we have living on Earth. That is the greatest _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _'s triumph ever for America and the world. Let's all be inspired to have BOLD COMMITMENT to make peace in the world like J o h n F. K e n n e d y. Book Review - The Treasure of Khan by Clive Cussler

The Treasure of Khan is the second Clive Cussler novel that I have read of late. The first was "Black Wind," a novel that I found mildly entertaining. So, I guess what I was doing here was either confirming my opinion of Mr. Cussler or giving him a second chance.Yes. I was giving Mr Cussler a second chance to hook me with his leading character Dirk Pitt. I don't know how others feel but for me, it's the characters rather than the actual story itself - though it is a bonus when the story is a ripping yarn too.The Treasure of Khan starts in Hakata Bay, Japan in 1281 AD. From there, pretty much it goes like a James Bond novel - all over the place. We get to visit Siberia, Russia, China, Hawaii, Mongolia and even the mythical Xanadu. Most of the action is in Mongolia - a place where all the names have as many vowels as consonants. For example, the capital Ulaanbaatar. Is that a mouthful, or what?In Mongolia we meet the evil descendant of Genghis Khan and Kublai Khan. Through a me
ans that I will not discuss so I don't spoil it for intending readers this bad guy (like - what else could he be with an ancestry like that?) is using priceless treasures from Great, Great, Great (add ten more "Greats") Grand-pappy Genghis to fund a method of oil exploration. He hits the jackpot and expects to make an even bigger fortune by selling the oil to the Chinese who are desperate for it - thanks to a few other things that he organizes along the way.I noticed in the previous novel that Clive Cussler gave his own name a little cameo appearance. He does so again in this novel. I actually like this idea. It's nothing much more than a fleeting mention but it is cleverly done. It's a bit Hitchcockish. One other thing that I couldn't help but notice was several references to AK-74 assault rifles. I don't know who proof-reads Mr Cussler's drafts but I think they missed that. Surely, he meant AK-47 assault rifles - every half-decent terrorist's weapon of choice. There are oth
er errors as well, such as:"Like an oasis nourishing a heard of thirsty camels..."You won't get a prize off me for picking the obvious error in the nine words quoted verbatim above. Hmm, maybe I am just way too picky! Then there was the incredibly UN-believable fight scene between the 20 year-old bikini clad Summer Pitt (our hero Dirk's daughter) and a mean, heavyweight, evil thug more than twice her age and twice her weight. Cussler's description of the so-called techniques used in that encounter made me cringe (Side bar: I have 36 years' experience in these matters). There is just NO WAY on God's green earth that it could happen. Utterly ridiculous. All in all I found the story limped along, the characters were fairly ordinary and the situations rather extra-ordinary. I don't think I will bother reading any more of Clive's books. The characters are just too woody for me. And Cussler gallops from country to country more often than I make visits to the corner shop. The Treasure
of Khan gets a pass mark but only just - 5.5 out of 10. I was going to mark it a 5.0 but I did learn a few interesting things about seismology, specifically the term seiche wave. For anyone interested it is the freshwater lake equivalent of the ocean's tsunami and it is smaller in size.See? You can still learn things from books that you don't particularly like.

The 4 Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss - Book Review

Title and Author: The 4 Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss - Book ReviewSynopsis of Content:The overriding theme of what Ferriss calls T4HWW (The 4 Hour Workweek) is the idea that we have it all wrong in killing ourselves by working 50+ hours a week and only taking two weeks' vacation a year, if any, and saving all the good times for "retirement" to occur at some uncertain time in old age. Ferriss argues that with some work and lifestyle adjustments it is entirely possible to reduce work hours significantly, take frequent "mini-retirements" of three to six months or more, and enjoy life thoroughly before any thought of old age sets in.To that end he offers various tips and techniques for working from home, automating your business or your work through over-seas outsourcing and software and stopping the accumulation of a lot of "stuff" and replace that with a lot of really interesting and enriching experiences. For example rather than work all week to pay for toys like boats and
campers and fancy cars you can rent an apartment in Berlin, enjoy their local culture, learn their language and have many European adventures. Or you could rent a place in a South American city and do the same. You could just as easily choose from Asian options. You can move from one to the other. The opportunities are endless and they often cost less than living in the US.Although this book is primarily aimed at Americans it could apply to people from any nation. The book operates on two levels. On one level it offers a kind of vagabond life with few strings or connections that might appeal to a young single person but may not appeal at all to families with children. On another level he offers many tips, tricks and techniques for reducing your work load and enjoying your own time. His work reduction ideas can work well for people in information businesses like writers and designers. It may also be adaptable to certain professionals who do not need to see their customers to
serve them. For people who are in brick and mortar retail businesses or are professionals who serve a clientele who expects personal contact most of Ferriss' ideas just do not work. Most medical providers, government employees and retail workers could not reduce their hours on the job because they are paid in part for the face time they spend "at the job". You can only do so much with automated systems and from a laptop at a coffee shop.At best this book will challenge you to think outside the box about your career and how you spend your time. It offers many tips and ideas that many can use to improve their work and personal lives. It offers ideas that make international travel more feasible than many may think it is. On the negative side adopting the Ferriss model entirely would be highly disruptive to most people and deprive families of the stability and connectedness to a home neighborhood that so many value very highly. And the 4 hour work week - well some could pull that
off using nearly all his techniques. But for most of us it is an illusion. Because it is technically possible and apparently Ferriss has lived it I cannot call it totally misleading - but for many the changes needed to get there would be at too high a cost.Readability/Writing Quality: The writing style is very good. It is easy to read. It is well organized and uses real life examples of how others have adopted his ideas. Ferriss is also very funny and will make you laugh at least once in each chapter.Notes on Author:Tim Ferriss is a writer and entrepreneur who has written for a number of newspapers and magazines including the Wall Street Journal and Business Week. He is also a guest lecturer and runs his own multinational firm since 2003.Three Great Ideas You Can Use:1. To the extent that you can take extended working vacations or mini retirements you can enrich your life and avoid burn out in a job.2. Most of us do not make major lifestyle changes or travel extensively be
cause we do not understand how to and because of fear. With adequate planning and proper technique we can lead far more interesting lives and travel the world unless we choose to stay in jobs that forbid it.3. You can liberate yourself from many mundane tasks from reviewing email to paying your bills by outsourcing it either to trusted sources in the US or more affordably to companies in India and Asia. Ferriss explains how to do this and how not to.Publication Information: The 4 Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss, copyright 2007, 2009 by Tim Ferriss. Published by Crown Publishing, a division of Random House.Rating for this BookOverall Rating for Book: Very GoodWriting Style: Easy to read and understand.Usefulness: Parts of the book will be useful to almost anyone. Other parts of the book may be of limited usefulness depending on one's limitations and choices.

How I Got To Be Whoever It Is I Am By Charles Grodin - A Memorable Memoir

Charles Grodin, actor, author, producer, and activist, gives us his view of the things that happened to him growing up that made him who he is today. He is very entertaining in his live comedy acts and interviews, and just as good telling the tale of a young boy who was thrown out of his school for asking too many questions. When he was president of the 5th grade and got impeached, he learned quickly how to handle negativism, rejection, and disapproval. For many, we might say these were crushing blows but for Grodin, it helped to prepare him for the tough life of an actor who must face rejections so often in their career. As he went on to high school and college, he became a success in plays and theater work. This led him to study acting seriously and from many of the finest like Lee Strasberg.Charles Grodin reveals what it was like to work on plays and movies, many we are familiar with like The Heartbreak Kid. He has worked with many famous and infamous personalities. Grodin'
s work runs the gamut from television to stage to screen, and includes talk shows and even being on Sixty Minutes II.I found, however, that the best part of this memoir was when he told stories from his "normal" life. Oh, yes, he relates stories about starting out with the likes of young Dustin Hoffman and Gene Wilder, or about his hilarious dating accounts. But when Grodin, known to his friends as Chuck, talks about how he isn't really the sarcastic man he pretends to be but really a big softie, that's what really draws you to him. Friends will support this by telling you what a really nice guy he is. Never is it more evident than in his support of causes he believes in, and how he puts his heart and soul into those he defends and supports. One of Grodin's causes closest to his heart is to help people who have been sentenced and convicted under the Felony Murder Laws and are wrongfully being enforced under this law. He wants to help these people and puts much time, money, an
d effort into that as well as many other charities he believes in. Proceeds from the book, in fact, will ALL go to his charities.I found the book to be an easy read and that it had its serious as well as many humorous moments. Most of all, I found that Chuck Grodin is really not at all who I thought he was. His kindness and caring are the opposite of his abrasive mannerisms when seen on television for instance. I think the book is a quick and enjoyable read I would especially recommend to people who like biographies and memoirs.

The 4 Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferris

In Timothy Ferris' book called The 4 Hour Workweek, he outlines his methods for allowing just about anyone a way to work 4 hours a week, make upwards of 50,000 a month, and live the life yhe/she wants. As I read the book I kept in mind that most authors are seeking to impress their readers. Well, Mr. Ferris did just that for me. He impressed me with the thought that most of us are living lives preprogrammed without thinking of the practical possibilities he writes about. His unique methods of how to plan and put into action his 4 hour a week plan is amazing. For example, he writes about using the internet as a way to outsource not just work, but parts of his personal life as well. By outsourcing his work, his finances, and parts of his personal life he doesn't want to think about, Mr. Ferris delves deeper into what it actually means to work and live.It also points out the vast possibilities of present and future technology. By utilizing the internet as a way to do business an
d bypassing the time factor by outsourcing, he outmanuevers the old mantra of time equals money. He also bypasses what it means to be rich and live the lifestyle we want without compromise. For example, rather than telling you that being rich equals having lots of money or high net worth, he explains that it's not how much, but what you do with the money you have or make. If you have minimal expenses, and have a only a few passions that require little money, you can be set for life. Of course, most of what he writes about seem very idealistic. But he writes in a way that makes sense to me. Another example of how he has impressed me is his use of outsourcing his life. It made me wonder whether he even wrote the book or outsourced someone else to write for him while he goes and plays around the world tango dancing, fighting (mixed martial arts competitions), or appearing on CNN talking about his Brain Quicken company. All in all, Mr. Ferris has written a very well practical and
usable guide that most if not all individuals reading will be able to positively benefit from, if they take action!

The Rise And Staying Power Of The Romance Novel

For those who can easily sink into the fantasy of a good book, there's no greater escape in the world. Gone are the every day struggles and worries of reality; replaced by the fictional drama provided in the pages of a novel. For those who love to read, it is truly a gift; a reprieve for the mind and a journey of the imagination. No other genre of fiction has been credited with delivering such fantasy as the romance novel; popularized by women worldwide and continuing to hold court as the guilty pleasure of many a generation. The romance novel dates back as early as the 19th century with English novels of this genre penned by such literary greats as Emily Bronte, Charlotte Bronte, and Jane Austen throughout the 1800s. Clearly their stories - Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, and Wuthering Heights, respectively, have stood the test of time, validating once again the enormous popularity of the field. In general, fictional romance tells the story of a romantic relationship between t
wo people - the meeting, courtship, conflict and strife, and, finally, the happily ever after ending - demonstrative of a love conquers all plot line. There are typically two separate types of the romance novel - the series, which is classified by different elements such as the same characters from book to book or the same time period. The series novels are typically short and inexpensive. The single title novel is longer than its series counterparts and is considered a stand-alone story.Even within the romance genre there are several sub-classifications that further categorize the story. Such sub-classifications include contemporary romance - detailing the modern love story; historical romance - stories that take place in a particular time period of the past; fantasy/horror/science fiction romance - integrating a love story into an existing atmosphere; and suspense - which infuses romance into a thriller or mystery.Romance is so very much in the air, that there are even com
panies dedicated to helping your write your own love story. Anyone interested in having their relationship immortalized in the pages of a romance novel, need only visit any one of the websites devoted to such offerings; you give them your personal information and they deliver to you a personalized novel. This particular genre continues to be a best seller in North America, beating out all other types of fiction in the United States and Canada. Harlequin, best known for publishing exclusively romance fiction, continues to be the largest publisher of the romance genre in the world.Romance authors - in delivering these pleasurable reads - have been elevated to a stardom of their own. Such contemporary romance authors as Nora Roberts, Jude Deveraux, and Barbara Taylor Bradford enjoy enormous popularity as fans follow the characters and stories to see what happens next.As long as we - as a society - continue to look for daily ways to escape the grind of every day life, the romance
novel will always be a popular and enjoyable diversion.

Psychologists Are Psychologically Challenged As They Argue About Their Science - Book Review

Any good psychologist which wants to make money will tell you that it is important that everyone get a mental check up now and again. This is indeed pretty good advice, and if you are psychologist it is really good advice for you to give to clients to keep them coming back. But did you know that psychologists do not actually agree on everything? There many controversial topics in this field.Psychiatrists and psychologists often clashes as well. If you'd like to read about all the chaos and controversy in these fields, then I sure have a great book to recommend to you, one that will also make you think about all the moral dilemmas that are produced by these professions. Most of them you will have heard of before, but when you see them all in the book, all in one place, it makes you shake your head and wonder; what are we doing? If you enjoy discussing topics like this then I'd sure like you to go pick up a copy of this book;"Taking Sides; Clashing Views on Controversial Psychol
ogical Issues" by Joseph Rubenstein and Brant Slife, 1986.Each topic has its own chapter along with both pros and cons and experts on both sides. Everything is done from an intellectual standpoint, but the debates and arguments are such that once you hear all the details, it makes you wonder if there is any right or wrong answer, which is interesting because that is quite typical of the profession of psychology. The topics discussed include;
Psychosurgery
Electric Shock
Behavior; Nurture or Nature
Children and Citizens Rights
ESP
Hypnosis in a State of Consciousness
IQ Tests
Aptitude Employment Tests
Ethics of Increasing Intelligence
Can One Rationalize Suicide
In the book he even discusses the future of artificial intelligence and its impact on society, and then asks a question; can Computers Really think? That is to say are they really thinking, or do they just appear to be thinking, and what is thought anyway, this makes for a nice healthy intellectual debate, one, I'm sure you will enjoy. There is also some debate about justification of deception in Research. Of the politically correct world we live in, and how psychologists and academia have put forth an agenda that may be intellectual fraud. Boy, this book is controversial. I totally enjoyed it, and you should have a copy.

Honesty in Your Mirror - Reflections and Poetry, Book Review

Some of the greatest poetry perhaps comes in the simplest of forms. And when we read good poetry it captures our soul and takes hold of our emotion. Not all poetry works the same on every person, some folks feel for one poem and then dislike another, then a different person will become enamored by exactly the opposite. And yet, some poetry is so good that it connects will all, why do you suppose that is? It's hard to say really. But what if I told you of a poetry book that you would love and enjoy, a fast, quick read, that would make you think, feel, and understand life, just a little better? Would that be of interest to you? Well, just in case it would let me recommend such a book to you; the book is;"Calculations on a Mental Mirror," by Leonard Harlig, self published poetry; copyright 1972 (106 pages). He writes about reflections throughout his life and the lives of his loved ones from their point of view or from his perception of what they are thinking, challenged by and the
ir own challenges. Just the other day, I had an individual make some statements to me, and as I read them, I so wanted to recommend this book. You see, it takes a long time to reach the proper reflective state, to find honesty with your mirror, and some folks need a little help. I believe this book says it all and will get you there. It would also make a great gift for someone who really needs to think. So, please consider it.

A New Kind of Movie Spy: The Devil's Halo Addresses the Very Real Issue of Intellectual Piracy

Perhaps it's my minuscule attention span that causes my mind to wander during the complicated and technical bits that run rampant through most contemporary spy novels. I tend to doze off as soon as the technology reaches beyond my limited comprehension and the politics become too arcane.Imagine my surprise, then, when I found myself completely wrapped up in the plot of Devil's Halo, the newest offering by Chris Fox. It's about a sort of movie spy, but not in the martini swilling, woman chasing James Bond sense. No, our hero is a family man--albeit a family of brainiac aerospace types--hired to foil a scheme hatched by foreign evil doers to steal one of America's most precious commodities: blockbuster movies. Now, that's something to which even I can relate. To be sure, Devil's Halo has its share of space age devices and political scheming, but it's expertly woven into a storyline with human interest, romance, murder and even a dash or two of well-placed humor. Add a damsel in
distress, a child in peril and a decidedly heroic protagonist, and you've got what it takes to keep me turning pages.Mr. Fox has most certainly done his research and that, combined with his elegant prose, makes his explanations of even the most fiendishly complex mechanisms and devices a pleasure to read. Moreover, he spices his narrative with delightful bits of esoterica (would you know where to find a portrait of Einstein in stained glass?) that one can save up for those ever so boring dinner parties. The Devil's Halo can be had at Amazon U.K. for now, but Americans will be seeing it in bookstores by this summer. Intellectual pirates beware; you're being watched.By Raechel Donahue

The Tiny Caterpillar and the Great Big Tree - A Review

Title: The Tiny Caterpillar and the Great Big TreeAuthor: Kelly MoranIllustrator: Lyn LorbeskePublisher: Lulu.comGenre: Children's Picture BookThe Tiny Caterpillar is a wonderfully illustrated and written book. The tiny caterpillar lives in a big tree; the tree is also his friend. One day the caterpillar leaves his to explore the world around him. He is saddened when the insects he meets won't be his friend. The tiny caterpillar goes back to his friend the tree, and finds comfort. Each insect has its own reason for at first dismissing the tiny caterpillar, but when the caterpillar wrapped itself in a cocoon and emerged a butterfly, he wins over the friendship of the insects. The Tiny Caterpillar provides an important message about the differences between us all. I read The Tiny Caterpillar to my 3-year-old grandson and he enjoyed it. He listened attentively and was concerned about the tiny caterpillar. He also enjoyed the illustrations. This is the reaction an author wants fro
m a young child. As I mentioned, it is a wonderful young children's book, but I did find one drawback to it. The message it is sending may be construed differently than what the author intended. When the caterpillar ventured out in search of new things and friends, the insects he met all found fault with him because he didn't meet their criteria for a friend. The first insect he came to, a ladybug, told him they couldn't be friends because he didn't have spots and couldn't fly. Next, he met the spider. The spider told him he lacked the ability to spin a web. Then, came the ant. The ant felt the caterpillar wasn't strong enough. The only way the caterpillar was able to meet their criteria for friendship was to become a butterfly. This changed the caterpillar's appearance and physical attributes, thus the drawback.Although the book is engaging and charming, showing children that the only way for the caterpillar to gain the friendship of the insects was to become something else,
something stronger and more attractive, may not be the message we want to convey to children. It is important for children to know that they will be accepted and liked for who they are; they don't have to become psychically different to be liked and accepted. Although, the caterpillar was surprised by his metamorphosis (he didn't intentionally change), it still shows a need for change to be accepted. But, you should read it for yourself to determine if I am off base. Aside from this one drawback, it is a delightful book.About the author: Kelly Moran is an author of several published books in romance, literature, and children's genres, a recipient of an Editor's Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement, inducted into the Who's Who Book of Americans, a Finalist in the 2009 Indie Excellence Book Awards, and a Finalist in the 2008 Best Books Awards. She resides in Milwaukee, WI with her husband, twin sons, and black lab.About the illustrator: Lynn Lorbeske is a native of Milwau
kee, WI. She obtained a Graphic Design degree from UWM and works as a full time veterinarian's assistant.

Palm Springs Celebrity Encounters: Ray Bradbury

I've met many celebrities over the years. But few have been as generous, captivating, inspiring and funny as Ray Bradbury. My first encounter with Ray happened a long time ago. He was the keynote speaker at my High School Graduation: Palm Springs High School, Class of 1983. I remember two things about Ray from that night.1) He told the story of a time traveler who returned to his present time and informed his colleagues about the future which was perfectly ecologically centric, outer space adventurous, and culturally rich for every citizen. When the present timers finally lived to a ripe old age and had built the future the time traveler had witnessed, they all gathered at the exact spot the aged future historian had long ago transported himself to so they could witness the reappearance of his younger self. The clock ticked past the allotted arrival time, where they politely waited, then grew anxious. Finally, well past the expected moment of his arrival, the old scientist tur
ned to those gathered and admitted, "I lied."2) The second thing I remember about that night was the ASB President bragging about how they got Ray Bradbury to be the keynote speaker: He owned a home in Palm Springs and didn't charge them to come.Years later, I found myself a book store owner in Palm Springs. I'm in my early thirties and the landlord has forced a name upon my store in wanting to create a Hollywood theme for the block of store fronts he is trying to rent. My store was called celebrity Books and I'd collected a large selection of Biographies and was trying to grow an Autographed Section in keeping with the theme of the store. It was at this time that I remembered the ASB President's words: "Ray Bradbury owns a home here."Now the internet was a growing thing in the early 1990's and I discovered Ray was going to be at a first ever grand book fair up at UCLA and I was determined to talk to him. I did, and over the din of the crowd making it virtually impossible to
hear, he signed my book and added his phone number to the title page.I called and he came. Ray showed up in an old wood sided station wagon turned taxi cab by a man who I learned had been his personal driver whenever he came to town - since Ray didn't drive - for over thirty years. During the event, Ray got thirsty and asked for a chocolate milk shake and a toasted cheese sandwich. I sent a runner to a nearby restaurant. We ordered off the regular menu and obliged him. We sold more books than I ever had in my life in a single day. My small, sadly worn and unglamorous, almost entirely used merchandise, store was host to many hundreds of patrons, clients and fans. That day, Ray Bradbury transformed my store from an interesting second hand business to a Palm Springs landmark. The next year came and I called Ray again. This time we couldn't schedule an appropriate time for maximum effect and he finally suggested, "Just put together the books you can and I'll stop by and sign the
m." The day came when he was supposed to show up and I had other things I had to do. My employee at the time was an old friend who had just moved out here from the east coast and he was reluctant to believe that Ray Bradbury was going to show up and sign this huge stack of books for me and not want a thing. As I was trying to explain the situation to my friend, Ray showed up, and with few words signed every book in the store he'd written - instantly turning the nice but standard priced pile of books into a valuable pile of literary gold. My friend called home (saucer eyed) to his mom and told her who he had just run into.I had the store for ten years and Ray showed a half dozen times. Each time he was generous with me and the crowd, and he was personal and intriguing to every individual. Many of his fans talked fondly of the first time they'd ever met him. Ray spoke about writing what you know and not letting rejection make you stop. He spoke about chasing your dreams and no
t letting life get you down. He was larger than life, and still is. He aged over the years: going from a mature man at my graduation in his late fifties or early 60's to his 70's and then 80's.One of those times when he was in town and couldn't meet the store schedule, he invited me over to his house to sign a few books. I considered this a real glimpse into the life of a living legend. His place was nice but not ostentatious. He had a housekeeper who opened the door. Inside there were a considerable amount of books on counter tops, night stands and the like. But it wasn't until he asked me to grab him something from the garage that I saw his real treasure. Ray had been a book man all his life; a lover of everything published - especially science fiction, which he hoarded - and I think he kept every item he ever purchased stacked in this garage. There were old Amazing Stories pulp magazines going back fifty years. There' were books stacked higher than a man stands tall. One
of them was even signed by some other luminary of sci-fi to ray himself. I had found the dragon's treasure of science fiction fans. When I asked him about the plethora of books and urged him to let me sell them for him, he simply said, "Eric, I have grandchildren." My lunatic thoughts of six figure commissions were dashed. But it also showed me that ray cared about family.Another time, Ray Bradbury couldn't come do a signing because he had limited time, so he offered to just drop by the store and sign a few books for me. Unfortunately I wasn't going to be at the store, or so I thought, when he was due. A friend of mine, Kevin Hooper, was working for me then and I explained to him the situation and showed him what I wanted signed. Kevin did not believe that ray Bradbury was going to just show up and sign this large stack of books. While I was reiterating his duties while affirming Ray's intentions, Ray showed up. Kevin was in shock that he got to meet Ray Bradbury in person a
nd how nice he was to sign a huge stack of books for free. The last time I had Ray for a book signing was at the Palm Springs Villagefest. We'd scheduled it months in advance. All my regulars, who had grown in numbers, were looking forward to his arrival. But when the night came, the weather was awful. It was cold and rainy - a horrible night for an outdoor book event. Only a handful of vendors, out of the normally hundreds, were even going to set up: the hot dog guy was nearby and one or two other vendors way down the block. No one else was going to do business on such a miserable night. I called my Dad and asked him to bring by our pop-up canopies reserved for swap meets and we quickly spread out in the street. We set up the books, which was a huge sprawling mess of tables covered with literally thousands of Ray Bradbury classics. Ray showed up driven by his regular driver and without hesitation asked, "Where do you want me?" and then quickly planted himself under the canop
ies outside, inches from the falling rain.Compared to a normal event at the street fair, few people showed up, but for those who did, they were pleasantly surprised to find a literary Science fiction giant sitting outside under tarps signing books and regaling the crowd with his good humor and presence. Ray mentioned the cold, so I bought a heater and we ran the extension cord through the rain. Thankfully Mother Nature was gentle on it and the device warmed up my aged friend without incident. He got hungry and we sent for food but he declined the milk shake and instead asked for a glass of wine. "My wife doesn't normally let me drink," he confided. I again sent a runner and this time came back with a toasted cheese sandwich and a large soda cup with lid and straw. Apparently the restaurateur didn't want to be found sending an open glass of alcohol out onto the street. Ray was thrilled and became more and more joyous with each refill.Ray's still writing and signing books. He'
s in his nineties now and barely slowing down. As I got to know him over the years I surmised that he was a guy who got to reap the benefits of doing what he loved for a living for a long long time. God love him.Eventually I sold the store and the ladies who bought it closed it down after a few hard years. My friends reverently think of Ray Bradbury when they mention the 'good old days' of the bookstore. I haven't seen Ray in five or seven years now and last I did it was at the same book fair at UCLA where I first got his phone number. He remembered me and we talked briefly. He was congenial, gracious and authentic; as always. I thanked him for a few more autographs and released him to the blockbuster crowd in line behind me.

Review of Joseph Matthews' Art of Approaching Ebook

Joseph Matthews' Art of Approaching ebook is great for shy guys who are lacking confidence to date women. However, some people are disappointed because the ebook has no magic. You have to go outside to implement the skills you have learned. No matter how much you read, nothing will happen if you don't practice what you have learned.Art of Approaching teaches the most basic and most important part of dating: The approach. You can't get anywhere if you don't learn to master what to do first. Joseph Matthews does not teach you cheesy pick-up lines. The step-by-step formula is easy to follow, and everything is written in layman's term. There are several methods to approaching strangers. You will be able to master a variety of ways so you can become a natural. One of the most interesting thing I learned from Joseph Matthews is how to pick up subtle cues that women show you that they are interested. He gives you stories of his previous dating experiences. He was once in your shoes wh
en it seemed like no women would ever find you interesting. Joseph tells the truth that you can't just "be yourself" like all your friends tell you. He unveils the misconception of how many people think you need to be naturally born with the talent to attract women. The talent can be learned just like someone who wants to be playing in the olympics. You need to practice, a lot of dedication, motivation, and never give up till you succeed.Art of Approaching is definitely worth the time to read if you seriously want to improve your chances with women.

Review - 2012 Official Countdown EBook Package Reviewed

About The 2012 Official Countdown eBook Package:The 2012 Official Countdown eBook is a product based on findings from research studies on the 2012 phenomena. Conducted by James Sayer, a respected Internet scholar, the main book explains how many independent predictions come together and collectively signify the exact future date - 21 December 2012 - as the end of a great age. In the book, James points out that this does not necessarily mean it is the end to all living beings on this planet. But at the same time, he explains how all the facts, observations, and trends show signs of a global event of great change in 2012.This eBook extensively covers all the main and relevant topics concerning the date 21 December 2012. The overall content is easy to read and understand. More importantly, the details made sense. All the prophecies have been discussed. I found chapters like 'Significant Natural Facts', 'Human Enlightenment', 'NASA' and 'Events in the Cosmos' to be very interesti
ng. The information about the 5th dimension and on the 'shift in consciousnesses' comes across as extremely thought provoking. The eBook seeks to correct the vast amount of misinformation out there and also give some insight into how the before and aftermath of the 2012 event can be managed.Whats Included in The 2012 Official Countdown Package?o 2012 The Guidebook: The main eBook that takes a detailed look at the whole 2012 phenomena.o Prepare To Live: 2012 Survival Guide: This is a reference guide that contains information one would need to survive and thrive in any disaster.o The Truth Revealed Portable MP3 Module: All the information in MP3 format read by well known voice actor Scott Woodside.o 2012: Truth Revealed: A Secret Report -Perfect as a quick starter for anyone interested in 2012.o The 2012 Membership Zone: Update central for all things 2012 related; keeps you updated on further findings and discussions on the countdown as it draws closer.ConclusionI doubt if the
re is any other 2012 based books that have been published which covers topics as extensively as the 2012 official countdown eBook. It is the complete information pack about the 2012 phenomena.2012 Official Countdown is also about spiritual awakening and a reminder to readers about what we are doing to our planet. It also teaches love and peace to every human being besides our differences. With the growth of conspiracy-theories, the level of cynicism and disbelief has grown too. But if there is a good probability that something could happen in your lifetime, there is nothing wrong in preparing for it. Any natural upheaval can be faced with a sharp mind and able body, as long as you get the right information ahead of time. And 2012 Official Countdown eBook package is an excellent companion guide on the road to the year 2012.

Book Review - Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie

"Before They Are Hanged" is the second volume in the First Law Series by promising young British writer Joe Abercrombie. The first novel, the wonderful "The Blade Itself" was a fantastic introduction to a series featuring brutal, hard-boiled characters, excessive profane language and copious amounts of violence. It was dark fantasy at its best--nasty and brutish.Well I am here to say that "Before They Are Hanged" is an even bigger, meaner and better story as things get kicked up here to another gear.Inquistor Glokta and the barbarian, Logen "The Bloody Nine" Ninefingers are anti-heroes for the ages. Abercrombie turns all of his characters, who are filled with violence, maliciousness and machinations, into guilty pleasures. You know you should feel shocked and offended at some of the things the characters say or do, but it is just too damn hard not to enjoy it. While it may be good to be the King, it is also good to be bad.As the novel begins, the Union finds itself at war on
its Northern front against Bethod and his massive horde of battle-tested barbarians. Impending war with the Gurkish also threatens the southern city of Dagoska.Inquistor Glokta has been dispatched to Dagoska to solve the mysterious disappearance of the previous Inquisitor of Dagoska. He finds he must overcome the corrupt and incompetent leadership of the city in order to achieve his objective, and defend the city from the impending Gurkish attack. Deadly backroom political intrigue ensues as forces within and without battle for their own agendas, causing Glokta to use his wits in order to keep control.Meanwhile operating under his own agenda, the wizard, Bayaz, has gathered a party of his own, the mindless and arrogant Union officer, Jezal dan Luthar, the mysterious hate-filled Ferro Maljinn, and Logen. They have set out to recover an apocalyptic artifact from the past which Bayaz covets, the Seed. This device supposedly contains a destructive force so powerful and otherworl
dly that it will be able to save the Union from the invasions of both the Gurkish and the North. But will Bayaz' group be able to recover the Seed and harness its power in time to save the Union?Like "The Blade Itself", Abercrombie's writing here is hard-edged and relentless. Like a nail-chewing, steroid-popping beast of a fantasy novel, the story's pace flies at breakneck speeds, flexing its considerable muscles during well-conceived battle sequences. The action pounds, the dialogue cracks, and the humor oozes through, combining into one of the most enjoyable reading experiences of the year. I find that I cannot wait for the conclusion.Last Word:Better than the first novel, "Before They Are Hanged" is a fast-paced, gritty bit of brutality and fantasy that grabs you and doesn't let go. Dark, well-conceived and enjoyable, this is one not to be missed.

However, Kimberly goes on a mission, with the support of her immediate family, to expose her well-known, community-minded uncle. The author describes the long struggles with the legal system, court battles, and prosecuting attorney to no avail. The case keeps getting thrown out even though there are five witnesses as well as testimonies from authorities that her daughter is telling the truth; indeed she was sexually molested over a three-year period by this man."Shattered Reality" contains a testimonial letter from Kimberly's daughter expressing her emotions and the outcome. Everyone loves a great mystery novel. Some of the most popular pieces of literature of the past are also great examples of mystery fiction. These include the tales about Sherlock Holmes, and more recently the books of Thomas Harris, Caleb Carr, and Dan Brown. The term mystery applies to a broad category of fiction. It encompasses detective stories and tales of crime. But the common factor shared by all these tales is the fact that they all have something great to reveal in their story line. What makes a great tale of mystery? The one great common factor would be that it should keep the reader not only interested enough to finish it but they should be eager to reach the end and finally learn the mystery. What ought to be revealed in the end should be something that has the potential of turning the reader's view of the whole story and important enough to justify the whole thing. In this aspect a tale like Secret of the Sands scores high. Adwords 180 - Prepare to be Shocked!

Behind the unspectacular sales page of Adwords 180, I was able to try Adwords 180 recently. It was priced at $47 like most ebooks these days. I've read a lot of ebooks with PPC advertising in my time and, if anything, Adwords 180 was a fresh breeze from many of the other books on Adwords that I've read. Many of them bloat their pages with "How to sign up" and "What is an ad group" type sections. Fortunately, Adwords 180 doesn't include any of this fluff we've come to expect and dread. At 78 pages, it is a decent read, although not recommended for inexperienced Adwords users. Adwords 180 is actually probably targeting at those who have had trouble with unprofitable ad groups and have never dabbled in the arts of CPM. In fact, barring what may be in the future, CPM is seemingly the last unexploited area of PPC advertising, with some of Adwords 180's best chapters devoted to the subject. Adwords 180 also includes sensible explanations of the various "Google Slaps" and effectively
allows triumph over it.The main purpose of the ebook could be looked upon as a cheap way of getting traffic through Adwords despite the unfavorable changes. One of the major claims that the program held was the fact that you can acquire less than 1 cent per click. I myself have tested this and found it to be truth by using the ingenious methods detailed in the Adwords 180.Just as the title suggests, the ebook takes us from a reverse stand-point of using Adwords in a way that many have been purposefully been misinformed to stay away from. However, Even though the traffic is cheap, it is not untargeted. Some of my tested ad groups with CPC's of around 3 cents converted as well as ad groups I would pay around the dollar mark for. Also, to add to this, the CTR was decently high and was getting more clicks. However, as with all PPC ebooks, it will not do your work for you. In fact, Adwords 180 is relatively high maintenance because it takes many tweaks to get your ad campaign ju
st right as I hope you'd want it.

Motivational Books to Move You!

"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving" Albert EinsteinIn times like these, it's more important than ever to keep your balance! Here are five books to help with your personal balancing act:1. The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer From the People Who've Lived the Longest By Dan Buettner Dan Buettner has an association with the National Geographic Society, and is familiar with many cultures around the world. He defines a "Blue Zone" as a geographic area that produces high rates of people living over 100 years. His talks with these people about their secrets to longevity reveal little that is secret. In fact, he finds that they just have naturally adopted healthy habits as a way of life. Some of them are obvious-lots of fresh water, fresh air, and exercise, and others aren't so black and white. Nevertheless, Dan gives us a lot of insight into how they live, and how we can incorporate much of what they do into our new, longer lives, leaving
us with nine main principles to consider and implement.2. The End of Overeating: Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite by David Kessler, MDA quick Google search on David Kessler, and you find out about a man who earned his law degree from the University of Chicago, while attending medical school at Harvard. He became FDA Commissioner, and led the fight against Big Tobacco, and also rolled out nutritional labeling. In this book, he goes even further, speaking out against the corporations that serve us highly processed, nutritionally lacking foods. Seems that since the 1980's, processed food manipulation has risen tremendously, along with the average American's weight! His book gives answers to why these foods have such control over us, and what we can do to change that dynamic so that we can eat the healthy, nutritious food that our bodies require for optimum health.3. Always Looking Up: The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist by Michael J. FoxMichael J. Fox rose
to stardom as Alex Keaton in 1970's series Growing Pains, and became a true "movie star" after driving the silver DeLorean "Back to the Future." This book, however, shows how very human he is, and discusses the years of his life since Parkinson's Disease created a major detour in the path that had been so certain. Michael deals with his progressive illness with grace, while always fighting back, and knowing that a cure is in sight. He maintains a positive attitude, humor, and optimism towards his illness, which is a lesson for us all to make the best of the situation we are dealt.4. The 90-Second Fitness Solution: The Most Time-Efficient Workout Ever for a Healthier, Stronger, Younger You Pete Cerqua with Alisa Bowman, ContributorThe author owns and runs four gyms in NYC, and has been a fitness trainer for over 25 years.
