Insights From "The Ultimate Gift" - Jim Stovall

This is a book review on the book entitled "The Ultimate Gift" by Jim Stovall. The author himself lives an inspirational life. He got blind because of a degenerative disorder. The most wonderful thing is that he did not stop at the point, he started from there. Sometimes we feel challenges stop us from doing things, but they actually give a kick start for big things to happen. This is the first lesson I learnt and brought about a drastic change in my perspective towards life. The book talks about some of the gifts that each and every individual has but we never realize it until we loose it. The way the concept is presented is just out of this world. I really loved the presentation. In fact, I looked for more information about the author and the book on the internet and I came to know that there is a movie whose script was based on this book and I watched the movie too, in order to understand the perspective better.Red Stevens is a multi-millionaire grand father who passes away,
but while writing his will he realizes that his money has done a lot of injustice to his family in terms of learning the truth about life. The comforts never allowed them to grow in life. He had an enormous empire but nobody qualified enough to inherit.Jason Stevens is the grandson and Red had always seen a spark in him. But, just like others, he was not aware of any of the realities. So he did a series of lessons (so termed as gifts) for him every month with the help of his lawyer friends. 12 gifts are left for him and so he gets his inheritance after 12 months which equals a year. After a year, Jason is a changed man and he grows to be matured enough to handle the inheritance. The book teaches a very important hidden lesson, having money/knowledge/resources is not enough, knowing how and where to spend it is to be learnt throughout this life and that is what Jason learnt in a year. Truly wonderful book to read and re-read over and over again!I was actually moved on readin
g this book. Given this as an assignment for me to pass through a training program, I consider this as one of the most precious gifts received till date. May be this book came up to me at the time I needed it, but this gave me wonderful insights about my life and future and has really helped me live a better life now.
