Guide to Pocket Pub Walks in Suffolk

What better way to enjoy a Spring day than to get out in to the countryside for a refreshing walk? With this in mind Stowmarket author CYRIL FRANCIS has compiled a book called POCKET PUB WALKS IN SUFFOLK.The book contains 15 circular routes varying in length from 1 to 5 miles in a handy sized format that fits neatly into the pocket. In addition to the clear, numbered route instructions, each walk section also includes a matching numbered map, details of distance and terrain, information on how to get to the start, places of interest along the way and, most importantly, a recommended pub serving good food. The routes take the walker through some of the finest scenery in Suffolk. There are walks across the dunes and along the beautiful coastline; beside tranquil lakes and busy rivers; through delightful woods and valleys; down green lanes and leafy tracks; over lush fields and water meadows; and around picturesque and historic villages. Please see Suffolk villages and towns.Along
the way there is a wealth of interesting places to see including the inland lighthouse, cliff top cannon and promenade at Southwold; the timber-framed 16th century Moot Hall at Aldeburgh; Buttrams Mill at Woodbridge, the tallest surviving brick tower mill in Suffolk; idyllic Hoppits Lake at Debenham; and the glorious views from Bell's Hill at Polstead. There is also the opportunity to visit one of Suffolk's foremost conservation areas at Dunwich Heath; the nature reserve and visitor centre at RSPB Minsmere; and Lavenham with its medieval buildings and the timber-framed Lavenham Guildhall.CYRIL FRANCIS lives in Suffolk and is a contributor to the East Anglian Daily Times Weekend Colour Supplement and Country Walking Magazine (EA Life), along with occasional features to the BBC History Magazine. A member of the Ramblers' Association, he leads walks for his local group. He is also the author of Pub Strolls in Suffolk and Drive and Stroll in Suffolk.POCKET PUB WALKS IN SUFFOLK b
