"Taeh Goes to the Vet" Brings Back the Joy of Reading

Taeh Goes to the Vet is a funny and wholesome children's book that really gets kids interested in reading. Do not get me wrong - I think it is great that our kids know how to use technology to their full advantage.In fact, this dog adventure story is now being sold as an eBook on Kindle, so they are still using a form of technology to view it. The difference is that this book, unlike web surfing and video games, encourages them to use their imagination. That is something most people are sorely lacking these days.The book is told through the eyes of author Wendy Healy-Hindmarch's Dalmatian, Taeh. The author seems to have a lot of insight into the behavior of dogs, and of their reactions to stresses in their lives. The way she describes Taeh's thoughts and actions, it is oh so easy to imagine just how the dog is feeling.Her words present a fascinating visual image of the dog's antics and expressions while she is trying to turn the tables on her human counterparts as she faces g
oing to the vet.The kids not only love Taeh Goes to the Vet, but after reading it they usually want to read some more. Children's adventure stories and children's animal books top the list after the wonderful experience with the Taeh book.Yet, the book is not just for children. Wendy Healy-Hindmarch writes in a way that is fun for parents and children at the same time. For me, this means that family reading time is a pleasure and not a chore. I can laugh just as hard about Taeh's tricks and capers as the children can.I can also appreciate the main message of the story, which all about facing fears. After all, it is not just children (or dogs) that have fears to face. Reading a humorous children's book about the subject seems to put it all into perspective even for adults. Anyone who wants a fun and worthwhile read might like to get a copy of this entertaining book about a lovable dog. In the process of reading Taeh Goes to the Vet with the kids, I found that it was just the thing I needed to bring back my own joy of reading.
