The Enchantment Emporium by Tanya Huff - Book Review

The Enchantment Emporium by Tanya Huff is the latest in her line of highly successful fantasy novels. Tanya is very well recognized in her genre, specifically for her writing books catered towards teenagers. In fact, some of her books are now part of the NYC Library book program for teens. Likewise, she is a finalist for a literary award from Canada because of her books for teens. Are you tired of reading fantasy novels set in ages past, where people live in castles and cottages, and there are lots of green barren land? Tanya's latest novel is a welcome break from that cliché concept. Her new novel belongs to the urban fantasy genre. This means that the story is set in a more modern setting with roads and buildings, and in this case, an emporium. This emporium or junk shop is what Alysha Gale, the main character of the story, inherits from her grandmother. Set in Calgary, the story revolves around the trouble brewing there, and how Alysha and her family of charms magic u
sers must band together to save Calgary from impending doom.As with her previous novels, expect lots of heartwarming scenes and conversations between characters. Also, action scenes are present throughout the novel. For concerned parents, the author being recognized by credible groups as a model writer for teens means that the contents of the book will be suitable for your children. If you are in the mood to read a new fantasy novel, not set in a magical realm but in a modern city, or if you want to try reading a fantasy novel for the first time, The Enchantment Emporium by Tanya Huff is the book for you.
