Break of Dawn by Chris Marie Green

The Hollywood scene provides cover for a vampire society in this dark urban fantasy. "Break of Dawn" by Chris Marie Green is part of the Vampire Babylon series. Below the streets of Los Angeles is the lair of a master vampire where cinema stars sell their souls for eternal beauty and fame. Former stuntwoman Dawn Madison is now a vampire hunter. She has joined Limpet and Associates in their quest to find and destroy the secret underground society where Benedikte and the other undead reside. Her mother, who left when Dawn was a baby, is part of this society. Her father is missing and Dawn believes her vampire mother abducted him. She wants to trust Jonah Limpet, the mysterious leader of the hunters, but unsettling events have led her to believe he may be one of the bad guys. Dawn turns to P.I. Matt Lonigan for help but he's not the friend she thought he was. Lies and betrayal come from all directions and Dawn doesn't know who she can trust. The realistic setting of th
is world makes the story feel even more dark and sinister. I love the way celebrities are portrayed as vain and egotistical vampires. The characters are a good mix, strong yet flawed. The plot focuses on Dawn, her relationships and the betrayals she suffers from those around her. A lot of back history is revealed and the story takes some interesting twists and turns. This is the third book of a trilogy and wraps things up nicely but fans needn't despair. The adventures of Dawn Madison continue in another three book arc. Publisher: Ace Trade (September 2, 2008)ISBN: 978-0-441-01629-7Paperback: Pages 336Price: $14.00
